[missing-sync-winmobile-talk] Text Viewer and Notes

I'm joining the list of people who really wish there was a way of  
syncing notes.  I'm new to the entire smartphone world, so these  
requests might be naive.  In fact, I hope they are, if that means a  
solution is readily available.

I keep my notes in simple ascii text files.  I'm quite happy to  
"sync" them by installing them onto the phone (although I'd like a  
way to move them  from the phone to the computer, too.)   But I  
cannot find a viewer for text files to install, so it does me little  
good to have them sitting on my phone.

Is such a viewer available?  I've looked at several of the offerings  
at handango, but none are .cab files.  I've used File Juicer to try  
to extract .cab files, but so far none of the more popular offerings  
on handago have .cab files to extract.

So my questions:
a) what do people use to view text files on their phone and how do I  
get it?
b) what do people use to view pdfs?
c) are there other viewers available in .cab format?
