I managed to setup for connection via bluetooth and managed to synch once. Since then the connection seems to be made via bluetooth but then missing sync doesn?t register that it is connected and therefore I can?t resynch. I?m using the latest version 2.5.1. Can anyone help as I?ve spent days going through the troubleshooting guides and re-installing etc. Many thanks Stuart From bcriscuolo at markspace.com Fri Sep 1 05:25:26 2006 From: bcriscuolo at markspace.com (Brian M. Bluetooth? USB? If you open the MSWM log, you should see some more information that would help diagnose this. If you see that the computer and phone are connected, but our app doesn't say so, my guess would be that you're connected over Bluetooth. If so, disconnect, Then put your phone into flight mode, Then go into ActiveSync on your device and choose Connect via Bluetooth from the menu. b On Aug 31, 2006, at 10:21 PM, Bryan P. See below for my log. I tried to submit it through the web form but can't find the log file. I have tried to sync via blue tooth and via USB. It seems to get "stuck" and it doesn't look like it's doing anything. I've tried to reset the history on ISync as you recommended. I still have to download the MotoQ update. It seems to be stuck a lot. The Sync botton on the Missing Sync window appears to be bright so I click it to start the sync process, but it doesn't do anything. 9/1/06 09:47:07 Monitor: Connection status from 0 to 125 9/1/06 09:47:12 Monitor: Listener: WM5Server:socketAcceptedIncoming 9/1/06 09:47:12 Monitor: Listener: WM5Server:socketAcceptedIncoming for primary device connection 9/1/06 09:47:12 Monitor: Listener: Password challenge 0x00000000 9/1/06 09:47:12 Monitor: Listener: deviceInfo: name=WM_grikimaru1 class=SmartPhone hardware=MotoQ 9/1/06 09:47:12 Monitor: Listener: completing device connection process. When I connect (usb to the keyboard socket) I see the semi transparent icon going through the stages and then MS window opens. The date in the top panel is updated to the current date + time. Then nothing happens (sometimes I get a "disconnected" error) although I have it set to sync on connect in prefs. If I click the sync button I get the spinning pizza wheel and eventually force quit. Today it froze my cursor (memories of system 9!) and I had to shut down with the power button. Reconnecting doesn't fix this and the only solution I've found is to uninstall and reinstall which is a bit of a slow way to do a sync... I'd appreciate any ideas as to what may be going on. I've turned it off and it just sync'd perfectly. The problem is intermittent though, so I don't yet know if this is a fix or a coincidence.... I'll see how it goes over a few days. Device is an Orange SPV M600 running Windows Mobile 5. Synchronisation from iCal/Address Book rather than from Entourage. Calendars and tasks synchronise without difficulty and all other functions seem to be in good order. However, contacts sychronise badly. When I plug the device in, I'll often get a "Communications error. Please restart" message against the Contacts item. I'll then click on "Sync" and there will be the appearance of a successful sync, but while my calendars and tasks will be in order, all the contacts will have been wiped from the device. Syncing again will cause the contacts to be correctly written to the device. I have tried slow syncing and this makes no difference. Having the Mac overwrite the device on every sync is not an option - I often accumulate new contacts which need to get into my Address Book. What can I do to fix this? Regards Peter. We both had an error message, on failure...and the copy was always corrupted, damaging the original, a disaster for me when attempting to transfer a long Word document. As I mentioned then, getting data (particularly Word files) from and to the 8125 was one of main uses I hoped to have enabled with the new version of Missing Sync, and so, expressed my disappointment. One of your developers or tech people indicated you would be working on the problem. I have since, yesterday or the day before, solved the problem--at least from my point of view. Here's the deal: Drag and Drop, from or to the device is still broken. But--TA-DAH--Copy and Paste (Command + C, Command + V) works flawlessly. IOW I can get my files back and forth, easily, without risking damaging the data. Drag and Drop would be nice but I have what I want...without needing to buy a card reader or other intermediate device. I should add that Copy/Paste was done over Bluetooth...and although I have not tried it, I bet it will work also over the generally less problematic USB. Note also, there are still some files that do not Copy/Paste without error but there is no apparent rhyme or reason for this: some *.dot files, a *.pwl file, an occasional *.jpg file; and I'd guess others but haven't checked *all* file types, or files on the device. As long as Word *.doc files are transferable I'm a happy camper.:) Hope information this leads to a complete solution. The problem was with the iPaq. To fix the problem you need to download a utility called "HP iPAQ rx1900 Pocket PC Series ActiveSync Mode Switch" from the HP web site and install it on your iPaq. The URL for obtaining this utility is http://h18007.www1.hp.com/support/files/HandheldiPAQ/us/locate/ 1129_6250.html After downloading the utility, the next challenge is transferring it to your iPaq so you can install it. The utility essentially fixes the problem that is preventing you from transferring the utility to the iPaq to fix the problem; sort of a Catch22 senario. My solution was to connect my digital camera to my computer, transfer the utility to the SD card on my camera, and then transfer the SD card with the utility on it from my camera to my iPaq. After installing the utility there will be a new icon under the "Connnections" tab of the "Settings" screen called "ActiveSync Mode". Click on this icon and select the setting "USB Serial Sync Mode". This should fix the problem. Good Luck, Warren From bcriscuolo at markspace.com Tue Sep 5 08:19:32 2006 From: bcriscuolo at markspace.com (Brian M. Because we sync with the systemwide sync engine, changes made in iCal sometimes don't make it into the truth database in a timely manner. If your device already has a lot of audio files it will take some time for iTunes show the device as it has to read all the files, which is slow via WebDAV. As previously mentioned on this list, it is better to leave the Mac alone while WebDAV is reading/writing any data. Even moving the mouse in the Finder can slow things down.
