David,

First off, are you using our 2.5.0 a13 build, from www.markspace.com/ 
testing? This supports WM5. If you're using that, please sign up to  
the testing mail list (also from the above link).

The biggest problem in not having ActiveSync as a service is because  
GPRS/EVDO/WiFi is enabled on your device. Switch to Flight Mode and  
you *should* get ActiveSync.

Delete the pairing from both the Mac and the phone first, and then  
run through the setup again (from ActiveSync on the device).
