I love automator, and would love to see what folks are doing with it,
but I think everybody is being overly impatient.
As I've said before, it's not their fault that all of you bought WM5 apps.
Also they said their fist priority would be for Palm. Well guess what,
that's now been released, meaning next step is WM5.
Ken has also already said before that there are technical issues, and
since this is a wholly independent project from M$ and Apple they have
no support from either company, they're doing everything on their own,
and M$ didn't make it easy on them (changing most of the rules.)
While I'd be frustrated that there was no WM5 support when shopping for
phones/PDAs I'd have never bought one I knew would not be compatible
"out of the box" with my computer (that there was software out there
that would allow for it to sync.)
It's why I moved to the MacTel when I did, and now, after
troubleshooting here, guess what? It does work as they say it does:
under Rosetta. There are bugs, but until the new version, there are
workaround, just like those Automator scripts.
And speaking of Automator scripts, I'd be happy to help test them.
Something I've found when making them is that it is highly difficult to
make them universal. A lot of times they'll only work correctly on your
computer and nobody else's. Something to do with permissions and whatnot.
So let's cut TMS folks a break and maybe work on some moderately okay
workarounds until we have a more viable solution.
(Just wish I was stronger in AppleScript...)
