[missing-sync-winmobile-talk] Incorrect Password / Keychain Issues

This is my first post to the mailing list, as I have been patiently
waiting for updates to solve several annoying issues I have been
dealing with since I purchased Missing Sync for Windows Mobile (MSWM)
2.0 upon release. The short explanation is that the program is
predictably flakey, but does work if everything is done just right.
I expected that in the beginning, and even chalked it up to "coming
with the territory" when trying to get an MS Smartphone working with
a Mac.
The issue that finally convinced me to post to the list is MSWM's
inability to read the smartphone password stored in the keychain file
consistently. When a smartphone is connected for a second time, or
when a smartphone is reconnected when a Mac returns from sleep mode,
the password can not be read from the keychain file properly. The
user can recover by doing a disconnect / reconnect and entering the
password again, but this shouldn't be necessary.
My setup is as follows:
Powerbook 15" (1.67GHz, 2GB RAM)
- Reformatted with 10.4.0, upgraded to 10.4.3
- Firewall disabled
Audiovox SMT5600
- Hard reset to factory defaults.
- Only installed software is TCPMP video player
Missing Sync 2.0.2
- Installed from actual 2.0.2 image, not upgraded from previous
version.
The process to repeat the issue is easy...
1) Turn on Powerbook (clean boot... not from sleep mode)
2) Connect phone via USB
- Phone connects properly
3) Disconnect phone
4) Reconnect phone
- Connection appears to hang on "Device Connecting..."
- Message window appears: "Incorrect Password. The password
entered for the Windows Mobile device is incorrect. Please try again."
5) Click OK on message window
6) Disconnect phone
7) Connect phone
- Password prompt appears
8) Enter phone password
9) Click the "Store password in keychain" checkbox
10) Click OK
- Phone connects properly
I have noticed that when connecting the smartphone causes the
"Incorrect Password" message window to appear (#4), there is a
keychain item for "MissingSync" still listed under "Passwords /
Application". Clicking "OK" on that message window (#5) then causes
the keychain entry to be removed. So my question is, what is causing
that keychain entry to no longer be readable by MSWM?
Thanks,
John
