[missing-sync-winmobile-talk] No sync on 10.4.3

I upupgraded to 10.4.3 and I haven't been able to even get the machine
to connect to the mac.  I am using a Macintosh g5 and have uninstalled
and reinstalled missing sync probably ten times.  I have the sync
cables plugged into the device(an axim X50V).  I know tht it works,
because it charges.  But turning it on on the stand doesn't register
anything on the screen.  The translucent USB connection screen doesn't
appear at all.  I spent 40 bucks on this progam and it doesn't seem to
be working at all after the first or second sync.  Is there any
suggestions about what to do.  Thanks, Gregg
