[missing-sync-winmobile-talk] Syncing over a Bluetooth connection

I have finally been able to sync my Dell Axim X30 with my Mac at work
thanks to a (scary) suggestion from the MS support staff to do a hard
reset of my pda. I connect my pda with this computer via a USB
connection. Now that this problem seems to be solved, I have focused
on trying to sync the same pda with my Mac at home via Bluetooth, and
I have not succeeded there. I know this has been a difficulty
expressed by many others on this list, so I wasn't surprised when I
failed to achieve a sync. My device paired successfully with my Mac,
but MS was oblivious to the existence of my pda. I searched the MS
website for guidance and the only advice I could find there was to
update the ROM on my pda and hope this would solve the problem. I
tried to follow this advice, but the updater file from Dell was only
available as a .exe file, which seems to require using a PC running
a Windows OS to install the upgrade to my pda's ROM. I am at a loss
as to the best way to attack this problem at this point. Any advice?
