I'm sure the MS folks will explain why, but it's a little
disconcerting that the option to have the device overwrite iCal
doesn't exist, although it does exist for Entourage (which I don't use).

Why isn't there an option for the initial sync for the device to
overwrite iCal instead of just erasing the data on the handheld?

I already had data in iCal and Address Book since I sync my phone via
Bluetooth with iSync. But what I wound up having to do to get
everything right was empty my Address Book and iCal so both were
empty. I then backed up my PIM data on my hx2415 and then restored
that backup on the device. Once I did that, MS did sync my PIM data
from the device to my Mac, and from there, I did another sync with my
phone and it was all updated.

Finally, I synched my hx2415 to my Windows laptop, and now all three
devices have the same data.

Now that everything is in sync between my PDA and my Mac, I've not
had any problems maintaining it - but it's only been since yesterday!

Now I'm just waiting for the notes plug-in....
