Just to echo and try to help with some of the connectivity points
raised here:
1) I too encountered many time-consuming problems when first setting up
Missing Sync Pocket PC with my Orange SPV M1000. This is definitely not
the plug-and-play, perfect invisible utility we might wish for.
2) The online support files are of little help. They are formulaic in
their approach and, in my case, somewhat misleading, describing
PocketPC interface behaviours that do not exist and omitting key steps.
3) Tech support is slow and, as someone else pointed out, somewhat
prone to just sending you the same stuff you just read online, without
taking any specific interest in your problem.
All of the above create user frustration! However, I can now report
that, for me at least, restarting my Mac and soft-resetting the
PocketPC just before syncing does give a reliable sync with iSync. I
have my firewall on all the time, with the relevant port opened, and
this does not appear to be an issue. I am running Mac OS X 10.3.5, up
to date as of yesterday, on a 17" 1.5GHz/1GB PowerBook G4. I sync via
BlueTooth only.
For me it would be good to see Missing Sync for Pocket PC become more
'invisible' and effortless to install, and it would certainly be good
to lose the need for resets before syncing. Also I miss the ability to
choose how many iCal weeks before the current date should be included
in the sync, as presently it takes a long time because it includes
everything going back a year or so!
Hope this helps.
Bruce
