[missing-sync-pocketpc-talk] Samsung i700 was working but not now

Missing Sync 1.0.3 (v19)

I have been syncing fairly okay with my samsung i700 USB to a Mac with OS X
10.3.4.  Often have to do a soft reset on the handheld before it will
connect but then it does. And I have to wait forever while it reads
everything but eventually I get a sync.

Then just recently it stops after reading some 600 contacts from handheld
and gets no further.  The handheld shows no connection. I don't want to hard
reset it because it might be my only good calendar data.

My iCal doesn't even start with my data but looks blank with an alert window
that says it is trying to sync the calendars and please wait. Doesn't matter
how many times I force quit it. I removed all the preferences but it's still
not happy.

Found the following in the console log:

004-07-08 19:01:20.112 iCal[727] event creation tracker startCreation, item
not present in array!

Anyone have any ideas what to try?
