[missing-sync-pocketpc-talk] Still fighting ActiveSync

Ok, need more help , one last try before the Toshiba Pocket PC becomes
a Frisbee.

I-Book Dual USB 700mhz
OS 10.2.8

Virtual PC 5.04
Microsoft ActiveSync 3.7.1
Installed Toshiba driver downloaded from Toshiba

MissingSync works just fine, wish I could use only it, but need to send
files and do most software installs through the Virtual PC side.

Run Connection Wizard, says USB is available , but device not
recognized. But when I first connected the PocketPC after another
reinstall, VPC Windows recognized the new device and said that it was
ready to use.

On Virtual PC , "Settings for Windows XP" USB is enabled, box is
checked, and says "Unknown USB Device"

When I drop the PocketPC into its cradle , it attempts to connect ,
tries to connect 4 times , and gives up.

PocketPC connection settings are : "connect to internet using these
settings: Internet Settings
                                                                   "when
needed , automatically connect to work using these settings:: Work
Settings
                                                                   "my
network card connects to: Work

Have two different cradle setups: one at home and one at office, but
all working through one I-Book.

Who knows what unintended consequences may have come up because of the
literally hundreds of attempts that I have made to make this work? At
least a dozen reinstalls of ActiveSync in both 3.5 off the original CD
and 3.7 downloaded from Microsoft.

Wish I could just work using MissingSync, and the files and programs
that it can install, but that is just not realistic, based upon what I
ned the PocketPC to do. It does a great job with the I-Apps, but has a
real problem with the Virtual PC side, and ActiveSync.

Thanks in advance.
