Ah! Back to the device! OK -- doesn't seem to make a huge difference 
here. Reading is the big slowdown, from what I can tell. (Here, it 
spends approximately two-three minutes reading my 545 contacts, and 1-2 
minutes reading my ~45 todo and ~200 events/appointments.) That's 
almost five minutes of sync time just reading.

Sync time for both versions is approximately 8-10 minutes, end-to-end 
(with other devices in there), in both 1.0.1 and 1.0.2.
