[missing-sync-pocketpc-talk] Syncing with the Windows world

I have similar issues because Michigan Tech uses an application called
MeetingMaker for its calendaring. I'm kind of lucky because this
software has Palm conduits and so I use my old palm to talk with the
Meetingmaker server and then read this into iSync and onto Missing
Sync. The palm stays in the cradle and I just press the button and it
works. To avoid problems I try to only enter information on the
Meetingmaker application and then have it overwrite the palm each time
I sync. This transfers the meeting maker contents to the PocketPC,
.Mac, and iCal, but doesn't overwrite those created locally. Going the
other way is possible, but can lead to a mess if you get a conflict.
Its a pain in the arse and I think I might just go out and buy a new
Palm because I am getting tired of installing and reinstalling
applications onto the PocketPC and wrestling with Activesync on my
Virtual PC.
This is not a criticism of Missing Sync, which does its job well, it is
a criticism of the whole PocketPC setup. I thought it would be cool to
use PocketPC, but I have not done a useful thing with it yet and
applications I used on the Palm are inferior copies on the PocketPC,
even when produced by the same software house. The only good things
about pocket PC are the internet and games capabilities and the sense
that you are using something a little more advanced, even if it doesn't
work well. There are a lot of things to like about PocketPC, none of
which are productivity based.
