Unfortunately, the file was too big for it to be opened to allow me to
clear it. I had to delete via the terminal. I'll try the tail command
next time (I couldn't for the life of me remember what that command
was, thanks.)
Now for the racket on this list about the whole "I'm switching to PM3,
yada yada", I've got both PM3 and Missing Sync. I've used both quite a
bit (not at the same time and not even on the same Panther
installation. I did a format and clean install just to be sure things
weren't going to get screwy) and PM3 has it's own issues. It's a good
program for what it does, but I don't like the way it does it. For
example, it adds a line to /etc/tty (something NO user process should
do) that WILL KILL your ability to login if you're not careful. If you
delete the program without uninstalling it, you'll have to either be a
wannabe UNIX guru or pray you know one to solve the problem. I spent
the better part of an hour trying to pinpoint the problem while SSH'ed
into my computer and finally had to resort to a perl script to
recursively grep search every file on my hard drive to find the messed
up line. That was not fun. I'll take manually killing some rogue
processes every now and then over that anyday.
Both programs are good for Mac users. To be sure, there is some work
that needs to be done but have ya seen ActiveSync on a PC? It's not
much better. My 2¢.
