You can discuss the problem to your heart's content.  I'm here to report that 
my standard 10.2.6 using the Finder to copy standard files, again; MP3, .jpg, 
.pdb (Palm), pdf, .exe installers, you name it to FAT16 and FAT32 formatted 
cards and drives ( BTW, card readers DO NOT need any drivers in OSX) produce no 
._xyz duplicate files
