Seriously, the answer in each case is "it depends". It depends on
the criteria you use to measure with.
Do you have existing PalmOS or PocketPC software? Do your friends
have existing devices? Will you be expecting to exchange programs
and data with them? What other options do you have in your support
network? Are you going to be sync'ing devices in a pure Microsoft
environment? Do you have specific programs you need to sync with?
There's far too many additional questions that you would need to
answer before we could begin to honestly answer your questions to us.
It would be a lot easier for you to describe (as completely as you
can) the environment in which you're going to be using the
prospective device, the general and specific types of applications
you're going to want to run, your community of friends and co-workers
that you're going to be exchanging data and programs with, etc... and
then we might be able to answer your questions.
