It is likely that your installation of Palm Desktop is incomplete or
corrupt. Unfortunately if you want to use Palm Desktop (which I don't
recommend on an Intel based Mac), you will need to re-install Palm
Desktop and then re-install Missing Sync. The log message is probably
indicating that the shim we use to talk to non-Universal conduits
crashed. If you continue to have problems after re-installing Palm
Desktop and Missing Sync, please contact our support department for
assistance.

As a new owner of a MacBook Pro, myself, I've done absolutely
everything I can to only run Universal applications; while Rosetta
works, it is slow and in my usage tends to slow down everything on
the machine. Of course, not everyone can be as lucky as I in running
mostly universal applications, but with the case of Palm Desktop, I'd
highly encourage people to move to sync services based applications
such as iCal and Address Book or SOHO Organizer in order to get the
best performance out of your Intel based Macs.
