Items that aren't making it over to the device until a few syncs  
later are indicative of a problem with Address Book synchronizing its  
data to the sync engine. That shouldn't happen, but I've seen it in  
my own development work as well.

I'd be interested to see that if you have that situation again, try  
restarting, launch Address Book, then synchronize your Palm. Does the  
contact come over then?
