[missing-sync-palmos-talk] iSync Reset NG, conduits load forever

Due to various problems I've had with M/S 5.0.2 since late Dec '05, M/S
support suggested I reset my Sync database, and overwrite handheld.

Here's what happened next. Anybody seen this and know workarounds ?...
its quite odd and a new issue for me.

As instructed, I first backed up all AB & iCal data on both machines,
and reset sync history. When I reset sync history in iSync 2.1.1
(89.0) it launched iCal and churned a beachball for a while saying it
was "refreshing contact groups and calendar information...". Oddly,
iCal showed a whole bunch of categories on the left column, most
different colored check-boxes without a category name. And at bottom
some of my Palm categories showed up. but it all doesn't look right.
I never paid attention as I use my Palm T3 for scheduling and it all
seems fine there. In any case...

I then went to Missing Sync to make all conduits "overwrite handheld",
which went fine for Contacts and MemoPad. but not for Tasks and Events
which gave me 2 simple panels stating "Loading Conduit Settings" as it
churned away for now 30+ minutes. I had to Quit M/S to get out of it.
A 2nd attempt gave the same results and I had to Quit out of it.
there's no way it needs to load conduit settings for over 30 minutes.

I must say that I have had nothing but problems with my upgrade to M/S
5.0.2. I had no such issues under the previous version w/ iSync 1.5 on
Panther. Its been so bad I'm regretting having upgraded to a new
G5/Tiger machine - I shoulda stayed Panther. I've been in touch with
M/S Support trying to solve one problem after another and its been...
well, one problem after another.

Enabled Conduits:
	Backup
	M/S Contacts, Events, MemoPad, Tasks
	TimeCopy

that's it.

All I really need is for my contacts, Palm Datebook, and MemoPad to
sync. And for AB & iCal to sync ot my .Mac account. Its been so
robust in the past, I'm amazed that Tiger's "new/integrated"
SyncServices (or the M/S "upgrade" ?) have managed to make it so
riddled with problems.

Any insight greatly appreciated

with regards,
Mark Doering-Powell
