I just reproduced the error:

The event is weekly, 10:30-11:30 am Wed, starting 4/5 (this week) and 
continuing indefinitely. I added an alarm on the Treo, and the only 
option I had was how much in advance (I said 2 hours). On the 
subsequent confirmation dialog, I applied the alarm to "All" 
occurrences of the event.

I've removed it and am doing a (slow) sync. I guess I'll try adding 
from iCal instead.
