I'll try to reproduce it as well. I made some progress last night.
I don't use alarms much, so I had a suspect event, a meeting with a
specific time that repeats weekly. The event was already
synchronized. I had then added an alarm on the device (a Treo 650),
and gotten the error message above on the next sync.
Yesterday I deleted the alarm, but left the event, and the the sync
proceeded without error messages (though it took 20 minutes instead
of 2-3, I assume because of the previous error).
If that's not enough for you to reproduce the error, let me know, and
I'll see what I can do.
