[missing-sync-palmos-talk] Starting Over

After upgrading to OS X 10.4.6 last week, I have had nothing but  
trouble with Missing Sync.  And I have tried everything I have seen  
here or could think of to fix this.

I get it to successfully sync once, then two minutes later it will  
not sync again.  I delete a user name, replace it with another, and  
get the same result. I have uninstalled MS, deleted the .plist file,  
reinstalled, cold rebooted my Treo 650, all to no avail.

I don't mind reinstalling all my applications, I keep copies and  
serial numbers.  But how can I get back to a blank slate to begin  
again?  I think I've done everything I can except reinstall the OS X.
