[missing-sync-palmos-talk] Issues with ical

I continue to get strange and unexplained behaviour from iCal!

For some months I've been having the sorts of issues that are commonly being
reported with iCal - no calendars in list; no events show up at first - only
after switching views; and so on. I've read the various info here and on
Apple's discussion areas about how to fix it - but the fixes never seem to
last.

A week ago or so I installed MS 5.1 (had been using various of the 5.0
versions for a while, but not the 5.1 betas). I was hoping that it might
solve the problems - but actually it's got stranger!

The first few sync attempts started well, but the whole process ground to a
halt while in the 'Events' section and MS was reporting 'pushing changes
from device'. In each case that kept up for an hour or so before either
giving up or crashing!

It occurred to me that the sync process might have been affected by the
change from Daylight Saving. (I'm in Sydney, Australia - and we had a 'one
off' change to the end-date for Daylight Saving this year because of the
Commonwealth Games in Melbourne. Apple fixed it in one of their updates, so
my computer changed correctly - but my Palm T5 changed a week early). I
wasn't sure it would cause problems - but, just in case, I waited until
everything was back to correct time.

I tried disabling the 'Events' conduit, and everything else worked perfectly
- so the problem is obviously in there somewhere.

When it kept crashing, I held my breath and tried resetting the sync
history. Then it all seemed to work OK. In the process, it reported there
were 42 changes to iCal, but that didn't seem excessive, so I said OK.

Everything now looks fine ... except ...

All the events are there on my Palm - the calendar seems in great shape. But
nothing shows in iCal. Not a single event! (By the way, in one sense this
isn't a great problem to me. I only use the Palm to add events or to look
them up - I just want to be sure it's backed up.)

Deleting the contents of the Sources folder makes no difference. Deleting
prefs files makes no difference.

I presume all the info is still there in the sync services database ... Or
is it?

If anyone has any bright ideas, I'd be glad to hear them - it has me
puzzled!

For info, I have a Powerbook G4 667, OS X 10.4.6, Palm T5, and I don't have
a .mac membership, so no syncing with anything other than between the Palm
and the computer.

Regards
Dane
