the good news is tha Aeroplayer does support AAC (at a price). the bad news is that it's pretty crashy in my experienc - I had similar problems to you with pTunes also.

I gave up after endless experimentation though the problem was not transferring stuff to the Palm itself with MS.

Just so you know what you're getting into...it's far from straightforward (IME), but of course, your milage may vary.
