[missing-sync-palmos-talk] troubleshooting wi-fi failure to connect, anyone?

I stopped using my buggy Lifedrive but the allure of wi-fi syncing got too much. I have set up the connection as described in the set-up assistant to the letter, checked the IP address of the Mac, done the same with my PB, all to no avail.

Assuming I have indeed followed the instructions correctly, how best to troubleshoot this, anyone? I've tried reinstalling MS 5.1, erasing the Lifedrive, setting up a new user but cannot get any response from Missing Sync. (and I've also toggled the connections and the prefs to every setting).
