Okay, it seems doable and the instructions given by Palm seem simple enough, but they are geared for Palm HotSync use. Is the process the same for Missing Sync users or is there a difference? Is there a step by step guide for Missing Sync users?

It *can* be done (I've done it myself a number of times), but there  
aren't
step by step instructions for it.

You basically want to do a full backup, a full sync, sync the PRC/ 
PDB files
from the updater to the device, run the updater, and then copy  
everything
back.
