[missing-sync-palmos-talk] Memo Sync moves memos to Unfiled

Here's an interesting situation I haven't seen mentioned in the e-mail
archives: I recently purchased MS 5.0.2, and while most everything is
running smoothly, the Memo Pad sync doesn't seem to be working
properly. Here's what I've done, and what has happened:

1. Set Mark/Space MemoPad conduit to "Handheld Overwrites Macintosh"
2. Run Sync
3. Open Mark/Space MemoPad application and verify that everything
synched correctly (it has)
4. Set the Mark/Space MemoPad conduit to "Synchronize"
5. Run Sync again
6. Open Mark/Space MemoPad application to verify that things are still
okay. They aren't.

At this point some of my categories have been duplicated, but not all
of them (2 of the 14). Of the duplicated categories, one set contains
their memos, the others don't. The remaining categories that weren't
duplicated are still listed, but do not contain their associated
memos... those have all been moved to "Unfiled." Hereafter I'll refer
to this as The Messed Up Memos.

And that's where I end up. Fortunately, I have a backup of my memopad
file on an SD card (Thank goodness for BackupBuddyVFS!) so I'm able to
restore my old memopad setup and try over again multiple times. Which
is what I've done a few times now.

I've tried deleting the Memopad.memopad file, and doing the "Handheld
Overwrites Macintosh" setting (as was done to fix someone else's
MemoPad issue), and I still utlimately end up with the same results of
The Messed Up Memos.

I also tried this setup:

1. Delete Memopad.memopad file from ~/User/Documents/Palm/PalmName/
2. Set Mark/Space MemoPad conduit to "Handheld Overwrites Desktop"
3. Run Sync
4. Check my Palm, and verify that everything is fine (I do *not* launch
the Mark/Space MemoPad application).
5. Set Mark/Space MemoPad conduit to "Synchronize"
6. Run Sync
7. Check my Palm and see that The Messed Up Memos have returned.

So, I don't even need to launch the Mark/Space MemoPad application
between the "Handheld Overwrites Desktop" and "Synchronize"
synchronizations in order to have this problem occur. Therefore, it
appears that problem is not being caused by the Mark/Space MemoPad
application, but by the conduit itself (or at least some setting that
the conduit interacts with).

Any help in getting my setup to work as advertised would be greatly
appreciated. If it's any help, my setup specs are as follows:

System: PowerBook 12" 867Mhz 640MB RAM, OSX 10.4.3
PDA: Palm Tungsten T3
Sync Method: USB

Thanks in advance for help anyone is able to provide.

- Jim

PS. For what it's worth, I'm also seeing the severe slowdown / 100% CPU
spiking when trying to enter a new memo in the Mark/Space MemoPad
application. I know this has already been acknowledged by Mark/Space
developers, but figured I'd add this quick "Me, too".
