[missing-sync-palmos-talk] Total failure to sync anything with a Treo 650!

I recently bought a Treo 659 which synchronised quite well with the
Palm software - however, I was tempted by the internet description of
Missing Sync's abilities, and I foolishly bought a copy! Since then my
usage of the phone has declined to the point where I've had to give up
using the Treo 650 and revert to my old Nokia 6310i!
The phone (Treo) will now not sync at all; it has no contact numbers on
it and no calendar! I have followed all instructions from support to
the letter, and it has just got worse and worse...
I have done a hard reset on handheld; reset device in iSync (losing all
my emails and text messages in the process) and it now tells me that:

Tuesday, 22 November 2005 16:12
  |Stephen Alder| Error synchronizing with the Palm handheld. The Palm
device is configured to use Palm Desktop conduits which conflict with
iSync.
If you are synchronizing contacts, the Palm Desktop conduit for Address
Book must be disabled in the Palm HotSync Manager application before
the device can be synchronized with iSync.
If you are synchronizing calendars, the Palm Desktop conduits for Date
Book and To Do List must be disabled in the Palm HotSync Manager
application before the device can be synchronized with iSync.
Can't synchronize contacts to Stephen Alder: device is not available
Can't synchronize calendars and To Do items to Stephen Alder: device
is not available

However this is not possible (disabling Hot Sync) as MS disables this
function.
I was getting thousands of duplicate addresses before I started taking
"advice" from MS support - I now have none (except in my OSX address
book); I can't access anything in Palm desktop, because the Beachball
spins all the time and I have to Force quit; after reading hundreds of
emails in this discussion list, I am truly sorry that I ever bought it!

I use;
Palmone Treo 650
Carrier Orange
Palm OS 4.2.1
Missing sync 5.0.2
Mac OS 10.3.9
Address book 3.1.2
iCal 1.5.5
itunes 6.0.1
iphoto 4.0.3
isync 1.5

Can anyone help? Or shall I go back to Palm software?
Yours unsynchronisedly,
Stephen
