It really depends on how much data you have in Contacts, Events, and  
Tasks. If you have thousands of entries (especially in Events and  
Tasks), it could take a long time. If you can, clean out iCal (there  
is an option to delete old events/tasks). How many contacts, events,  
and tasks do you have? Sync Services takes a long time to go through  
changes. If you which computers, it will take even longer as it has  
to do a slow sync and compare each record.
