Bill,
I will second that. No need to install the Palm Desktop if you just need to
communicate with iCal & Address Book. In fact, I'd suggest not installing
the Palm Desktop software so as not to confuse Missing Sync and to keep down
the clutter of unused conduits.
However, if you ever need to sync to any of the Palm apps, you will have to
install the Palm Desktop. I have not yet found a way to install their
separate apps such as "Voice Memo", "Notes", & "Memos"
