That's what I'll do now that I (hopefully) will remember that the problem
has to do with looking for that window. Until now the incidents have been so
widely spaced (it's not often I go 7 days without synching) that I had no
idea _what the problem could be, and was just praying blindly that a log out
would fix whatever it was that was going wrong.

I shouldn't have said "modal" - I meant "floating". The Entourage Reminders
don't prevent you from doing anything in any app or at any window level
below them. Neither does the MS Reminder - but it gets covered up so it
can't be seen.
