Also, Apple is also very aware of the its conduit limitations.  We also know
how tight-lipped is Apple about product/software releases.  Imagine if
Missing Sync spent 100's of man-hours on designing, testing, and supporting
this, to have Apple release it 2 weeks later?

Not developing a solution to fix a problem simply because Apple might be 
doing so is not a viable option. There are many issues that Apple is 
aware of that just don't seem to have any importance to them. The 
category problem has been around for quite a while. If Apple was going 
to fix it, they should have done it a long time ago.
