I had a similar issue when Tiger first came out. The problem was related to
the iSync conduit, not the device. The issue turned out to be the old iSync
conduit for pre-Tiger OS iSync. You could still download that conduit from
Apple's site, the old conduit and Tiger didn't communicate so I'd get a 5
minute timeout on iSync, Missing Sync would respond again after the 5
minutes were up. The solution in my case was to select the iSync conduit in
Missing Sync, then command-d to delete it from the conduits list. Next, go
to iSync and under the Devices menu, select Enable Palm OS Syncing. iSync
will then go through its tasks of checking and adding the new conduit. Be
aware that you will see references to HotSync in the dialog boxes,
substitute The Missing Sync for any occurrence of HotSync.
Also note, you should be using the most recent version to The Missing Sync,
v4.0.5. If you are using an earlier version, you can download a free update
here: http://www.markspace.com/downloads.html
Hope it helps, that issue drove me nuts for 2 days.
