Thanks, Brad. A very interesting account of IMAP & its limitations.

I suppose I am only aware of my own experiences. I use an internet provider
for network bandwidth only. I am not interested in the bells & whistles
companies like AOL offer along with their corporate image. I have a 1mbit
adsl connection to Zetnet and that's all I want from them. I buy my own
email and usenet access.

For email I use a company based in the Netherlands, www.imap4all.com. I pay
35 Euros a year and get 3GB of mail storage. Naturally I can upgrade and get
5GB or more if I need it. Currently I have used 21.6MB of my storage space.
I do tend to delete day-to-day email messages and only keep the odd message
I might want to refer to in the future.

I have used various IMAP client apps on Windows, Mac, PocketPC, Palm and
Linux devices and have used several IMAP email providers such as Runbox,
Fastmail, imap4all and a few others I can't remember. All have worked
flawlessly.

No doubt as someone who works in the industry you are more aware of problems
with the IMAP protocol, but I have to say as an end-user I wouldn't hesitate
to recommend it.
