[missing-sync-palmos-talk] 4.0.3 and Entourage

Hi Moe (and others),

I use the Entourage 2004 conduit with The Missing Sync 4.0.3 every day. I
use a Sony CLIE TH55 as my main handheld, and it uses the "old" databases.
Newer palmOne (and some other) devices employ a new database structure that
doesn't sync entirely with Entourage--or Address Book, for that matter!
Though Microsoft would have very much liked to provide a more complete sync
with newer devices, they did not get the information from palmOne far enough
in advance.

If you're having a problem with one of the Entourage conduits, where it just
doesn't seem to work after an OS or Missing Sync upgrade, the number one
thing to try is to turn off Office Notifications in Entourage (from the
Entourage menu, choose Turn Off Office Notifications), then try syncing
again. If the sync works, then it's usually okay to turn Office
Notifications back on.

If the sync still doesn't work, then it night be necessary to throw out
Entourage Storage file, forcing a slow sync. In your home directory,
navigate to ~/Documents/Palm/Users/[your HotSync name]/Entourage/, and
delete the file called Entourage Storage. Then try syncing again.

Let us know what works and what doesn't.

For anyone who is interested, I also use Paul Berkowitz's Sync Entourage
Address Book/iCal scripts. I live in Entourage, and I find it much faster at
syncing with my Palm OS handheld than the iSync conduit. I like to use
Address Book and iCal for their integration and sharing features, and Paul's
excellent scripts keep everything up to date for me.
