I tried several more times and after the third restart I was able to  
sync again. It's very strange that hotsync would report a successful  
sync, even before M/S finishes launching. I've had a similar issue  
one time before when I picked up my Treo and walked out of range when  
it was still syncing, but one restart cures it. If a sync is  
interrupted before it it finished, it seems the only way to get  
things to work again is to restart the computer.
