This is an interesting point and I would like to recommend that Mac  
users ALWAYS use the combo updaters from Apple's website rather than  
the partial updaters that show up in the "software update" panel when  
updating the OS. It's usually a good idea to repair permissions, run  
all the crons and (possibly) run Disk Warrior prior to the updates  
too, just to be on the safe side and to make sure the update is  
looking at an optimized system.
