On this group, many solutions involve doing the "cron" checks and  
maintenance checks -- permissions, etc -- and people mention Cocktail  
and OnyX. I just found one called Macaroni -- http://

In addition to all the regular maintenance tasks it has one that  
"Cleans language-specific localized files for languages you don't  
need." The user chooses which languages to eliminate and it hunts  
down all files for them and trashes them. Missing Sync, for example,  
had a handful I didn't need as did many, many other apps. I mean, do  
I need Farsi and Swahili files for Safari or Hindi for iTunes???  
After it trashed the language-specific files, it had freed up 940MB  
os space!!!!
