Oddly, it isn't.

I had to get to about 1M free before I no longer received that
warning/error message.

If you have not already done the 1.0.8 firmware update on the 650, you may
want to. The reason I personally had the issue was that after I loaded my
650 with all the data from my old 600, I was out of memory (due to the much
talked about issue that original 650s have with memory allocation).
