Attachments totally work in both IMAP and POP.  It's the way that they 
download that is definitely less elegant than with Snapper, but once 
adjusted to the difference, it works just fine.  I don't know about 
card support, but you can do push via timed sync with POP... at least 
the illusion of push in that your mail will arrive as IMAP does behind 
the scenes and with the screen off.  POP protocol does not  allow a 
server to be connected like IMAP so you can't stay connected, but the 
timed syncs I use for Gmail and Yahoo work just fine.  AOL now supports 
push through IMAP if that is of interest...

Test and decide...  I believe both offer a 30 day trial.
