[missing-sync-palmos-talk] sing Sync for Palm OS 4.0.2 beta 6 (actually 5)

I have installed this on my machine (TiBook 500 running Mac OS 10.3.5)
and am now unable to sync with my Palm m130.
What I did: 
1. Installed beta from page
2. Restarted machine
3. Inserted Palm in cradle
4. Pressed sync button on cradle
What I expected to happen:
1. Missing sync would launch
2. Sync would start
3. iSync would launch and do it's thing
4. missing sync would complete it's thing
What actually happened:
1. missing sync launched
2. two barber poles began to spin in the metal window that opens
3. there is no number three that is all that happened.
