first of all, respecting your non-newbie status, you don't differentiate
between Missing Sync to mount cards and Missing Sync Net Sharing (just
covering the bases here). Only the latter will give you access to
Avantgo. They cannot run at the same time. They have distinct
architectures (eg to get Missing Sync to run originaly I hd to
hard-reset the Palm; but Net Sharing worked fine). It sounds like you
have mixed the two up?

DNS errors means that you need the DNS settings from your ISp for the
Palm settings btw, if you get that far.

What sort of internet connection on the mac are you using? (airport,
LAN, etc)

Before offering particular advice (in the absence of details), we can
only say check you created a network appropriately etc. 

Otherwise, it's the usual debugging: permissions on the Mac, reset the
Palm, maybe hard reset, all that stuff...
