Hello,

I am confronted with a problem I cannot solve:
iSync does not sync my iCal and Address Book any more.

Missing Sync works fine for the backup, Docs2Go, Filemaker conduit etc..
Missing Sync is to my knowledge not "the bad guy".
It's only the iSync conduit (or iSync itself) making trouble.

In my Missing Sync log file this part catches my eye:
------------------------------------------------------------------------
------
07.12.04 00:24 iSync Conduit starting
?07.12.04 00:29 Timeout waiting for Sync Engine, exiting
?iSync Conduit fehlgeschlagen (0xfffffffe)
------------------------------------------------------------------------
------
(note: "fehlgeschlagen" means failure)

This means to me Missing Sync was waiting for 5 minutes for the Sync
Engine to start. If I don't abort the sync, after the timeout Missing
Sync keeps on going with the rest of the conduits.
The progress bar opens in iSync for 1 or 2 seconds and closes again.
The bar is only white - no blue progress bar starting. No status text
below the progress bar. The iSync log stays empty.

I have deleted Missing Sync totally today and installed Palm Desktop -
but I had the same story with HotSync Manager: Everything OK, except
iSync.
A try with iSync 1.4 and 1.2 had same results. The (iSync Palm) Apple
conduit is 3.0.1 as GetInfo shows.

Two things might be relevant:

Missing Sync puts one pref file in root/library/preferences and one in
user/library/preferences with the same name
(com.markspace.missingsync.palmos.plist). both with different content.
Is this normal?

iSync or iSyncPalm conduit is not creating a preference file with
something like ....isync(palm?)registry... I have seen this file before
once when deleting the iSync prefs for a fresh start up.

And it feels like iSync just doesn't "see" my address book and my
calendars...
Maybe iSync looks at the wrong place! Putting aliases for Calendars and
Addressbook in root/library did not work either.

What I did so far: I de-installed everything (iSync, iSyncPalm conduit,
Missing Sync) and installed it again. Several times.
I repaired the permissions - several times.
Changed Hotsync name - no success.

When I had the same trouble 3 weeks ago to make it work again I did a
complete re-install of EVERYTHING on my computer - from scratch.
This time I wish I could avoid this 2-days work....

Although I'm sure it's not the fault of Missing Sync I hope someone
here has some knowledge to help me getting my things synced again.

I put this to Apple too.

Don't know what else to do....

Thanks for your help

Uli
