We do have an icon in the dock complete with a progress bar. Do you 
hide the dock and not notice it? Or have you disabled the progress 
dialog during sync? While your request is a "simple" one, it is a bit 
tricky to implement and to have it provide updated status. It's 
possible to add for a future version, but we can't commit to adding it 
right now (there are a number of other things also on the list that 
must get done).
