??? I really don't think so

there's a lot of confusion...

so, the facts:

- the two new Zire models have OS 5.2.8 => I would say it is "normal"
that they syncs with Mac: in fact all the previous
OS5-palmone-handhelds sync too (Tungsten T, T2, T3, Zire 71) using
PalmDesktop 4 for Mac.

- OS 6 (Cobalt) is different. OS6 handhelds won't be able to use the
"current" Mac PalmDesktop + HotSyncManager, they'll need something
(completely) new. Apparently, nobody wanted to build and support this
"new thing" that enables Cobalt<->Mac syncing ("PalmSource drops Mac
Synchronization in Cobalt", remember?) and that was the source of all
SCARES in the Mac Community. Now, MarkSpace will be the one to build
and support that "new thing".

So "does this mean MarkSpace have wasted weeks of software coding in
preparation for Cobalt?" => answer: NO
;-)

Anyway, don't scare: when you'll buy your future Cobalt-handheld, you
won't even notice that "someone has dropped Mac support":

I'm almost certain that the future Palm-Mac situation will be like this:

- you buy the new, let's say, palmOne Tungsten T4 with Cobalt.
- you open the box, there's an installation CD.
- the CD is Windows and Mac compatible
- the CD will install PalmDesktop for Windows, if you have a PC
- it will install the "new thing" from MarkSpace ("The Missing Sync for
Palm OS Cobalt") if you have a Mac

see?
the future's bright

;-)

sorry for my crap-english
