My experience was largely the same as that of Greg Morse and I
eventually gave up. My girlfriend was much more patent and kept
working with support to resolve her issues. Mark/Space eventually
just refunded her money, in lieu of actually solving the problems.
You are quite right that all software has defects. I've never found
a perfect app. I'm a professional programmer myself, and my software
has defects, too. There are degrees of defects, though. For many of
us, Missing Sync for Hiptop has proven so defective that we had to
give up using it.
While I've had decent experiences getting support for Missing Sync
for Palm, I've yet to read of somebody having similar luck with
support for Missing Sync for Hiptop. No doubt it has happened, but
I've only seen the negatives.
I'm glad Conrad's problem had a straightforward solution and that
Hiptop sync is working for him. While Hiptop sync was working for
me, it was a wonderful thing. I'm also that that the other Greg
related his own experience and gave Conrad fair warning of what he
might be up against.
As for pissing and moaning in the dark, you may recall that this list
is hosted by Mark/Space. While they haven't been as responsive as I
would like, they have occasionally been responsive to the list.
While they might not address the concerns we bring up, if we don't
bring the concerns up at all, the odds of getting them addressed get
a lot worse.
Succinctly: I hear where you are coming from, but Mr. Morse has a
legitimate point.

PS: If I've ditched my Hiptop, why am I still on the list? There
are a few reasons. For one, I still hold out hope that the program
will improve. I also glean the occasional PDA-related tidbit.
Anyway, the traffic is pretty low, so staying on the list is no bother.
