The problem was, in fact, accidentally unchecked boxes  in the  
preferences for SSL so that I wasn't able to connect.

You're right that there are unfixed bugs with Missing Sync for Hiptop  
and that it has been in many ways a frustrating program.

This mistake, however, was mine; just wanted  to set that part of it  
straight.
