I'm not sure if you can rely on that working the way you hope.  Under  
some circumstances, including being turned off for a long time, the  
Sidekick has no data when it first boots.  If you boot in an area  
where you have coverage, since your data will trickle back before too  
long, but if you are without service in europe, you've got a problem.

If GPRS will work properly (aside from the cost issues), one  
workaround might be to leave wireless enabled until your data comes  
back, turning it off immediately afterwards.
