Specifically new contacts that i create on my sidekick do not always sync back to the mac. I added about 30 new contacts on Friday (last week), and only 20 of them synced back to the mac. I discussed this with Brian C and he suggested I post it here. I'm using missing sync version 2.0 and tiger 10.4.2 Overall my syncs were very well. However, when I do my sync some entries that I have on my computer under Birthday Calendar and other in my Holiday Calendar end up in my Personal Calendar after I sync. It seems pretty random. It does not take all items from those calendars just a random few and puts them in Personal. Any way to fix this? b From flint at xmasons.com Wed Sep 21 14:07:04 2005 From: flint at xmasons.com (flint) Date: Wed Sep 21 14:07:20 2005 Subject: [missing-sync-hiptop-talk] "Synchronization Failed!" *ouch* Message-ID: The error message, "Synchronization Failed! The synchronization failed because of a communication or you have exceeded the record limits. Some records may not have been synchronized." Yep, I'm over the limit. Here's the issue: repeat calendar items (birthdays, holidays, weekly meetings, etc.) fill up the 1,000 item limit. Some suggestions: 1) Limit the window of time to a week, two weeks, or month. I synch often enough where knowing what happens three months from now isn't a big concern. Also, what happened has already happened; I don't need previous calendar items. If folks do want previous calendar items on their device, what about allowing for user input ranges? 2) Not sure if this is how it works now, but only allowing the first 1,000 items, both repeating or non-repeating. From today. 3) The ability to ignore repeating events. Due to the repeating events in calendars, the syncing software is pretty much useless at this point because it won't allow new items to be added. And there is no way I can add additional items via the device. I could remove the previous calendar item in iCal, but I want them. I don't want to have to delete them. I don't necessarily need them on my Hiptop/Sidekick device though. Trying to isolate the problem I have changed the settings in ICal to get rid of past events older that 60 days. Changed reoccuring events to expire so they don't go on indefinitely. I have counted about 100 events that are trying to be sync'd. Any idea on the problem? This problem just started about a month or so ago no long after the final release of the software. I did not have this problem with the beta versions. jim On Sep 21, 2005, at 3:07 PM, flint wrote: > The error message, "Synchronization Failed!
