Before I did this I reset the Missing Sync and then I hit sync. I got a dialoged box that said: Synchronization Failed! The synchronization failed because of a communications problem or you have exceeded the record limit. Some records may not have been synchronized. I never got that until now. Anyone have any insight? Do we need to start testing another missing Sync for hiptop or is this my error? Errors are generated from no last names on company contacts or from odd time zones on meetings in the ical proram. Just change tinezone to more known and add compony name to last name. This solved my problems. - jim -----Original Message----- From: Curt Broskey Subj: [missing-sync-hiptop-talk] After the 2.3 Sidekick update Date: Mon Nov 7, 2005 8:34 pm Size: 809 bytes To: The Missing Sync for hiptop Discussion List Ok, The sidekick got updated today and I synced the sidekick. I have done everything. I even tried just syncing the addresses, and then just the calendar... no luck.. help.. I hate to think that this last update killed the syncing. Someone else is got to be having the same issue. The system may recover slowly after the maintenance window but Danger expects the system to be fully up and running within this window. Sorry for any inconvenience this may cause. Regards! To make things even more challenging, syncing failures are often not reported in the UI, but is visible in the application log. There are many ways that data can causing syncing failures. Common causes are missing fields (first and last name in contact for example) or too long fields (very long notes for example). In a nutshell, the Hiptop desktop schema is less rich/more strict. The missing sync conduit, in general, doesn't simplify the data, and syncing errors result. Also, subscribed or published calendars often cause sync errors, even with otherwise Hiptop compatible data. My suggestion is to revert to a backup or clean out the duplicates. Backup the address book and iCal data, and then do "reset syncs" until you get a clean sync. Please view the mailing list archives for more information on getting started with the application log, doing reset syncs, and spotting failed records in the logs. For better or worse, the Missing Sync for Hiptop is the only solution on the Mac, so one can work around all the issues, or have no sync. Also feel free to email me off of the mailing list.
